Stop Telling Nigerians Not To Eat Bush Meat.. National Hunters’ Association Cry Out!!!
The National Hunters’ Association of Nigeria has told the government to stop telling Nigerians not to consume bush meat because it has affected their business drastically in the last few days and its also driving its members into unemployment.
The association made this known while addressing journalists in Lagos during a conference held with journalists to address the situation.
The President of the group, Chief Ishola Olasehinde while speaking at the conference said;
“We want to use this medium to tell the government that our businesses have been affected since they have informed people to stop consuming bush meat to prevent Ebola. This is our only means of sustenance. Even if there is any virus in these animals, once they are boiled and fried, it gets killed. Government should include hunters in their research if they really want to prove that bush meat causes Ebola.
We hunters are the ones who protect the country’s borders from being invaded by nomads from Mali and Lake Chad. If not for our activities in the forest, Boko Haram members would have taken control of many cities in the country. This is not the way the government should reward us,” he said.

Just saw this shocking news some seconds ago.
Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has died. The health of Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud had previously been a subject of rumors; word emerged earlier this month that he indeed ill.
Abdullah was 90 years old. He ruled Saudi Arabia for nearly 10 years, having assumed the throne after his brother King Fahd died in 2005.
The kingdom’s new ruler is King Salman, according to state TV.
The news has just emerged. We’ll update this post as we learn new details.
“Abdullah was born before Saudi Arabia was even a country,” NPR’s Kelly McEvers reports for our Parallels blog.
But in his lifetime, he saw the country rise to prominence — thanks to the discovery in 1938 of massive oil reserves.

DENVER — A dispute over a cake in Colorado raises a new question about gay rights and religious freedom: If bakers can be fined for refusing to serve married gay couples, can they also be punished for declining to make a cake with anti-gay statements?
A baker in suburban Denver who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding is fighting a legal order requiring him to serve gay couples even though he argued that would violate his religious beliefs.
But now a separate case puts a twist in the debate over discrimination in public businesses, and it underscores the tensions that can arise when religious freedom intersects with a growing acceptance of gay couples.
Marjorie Silva, owner of Denver’s Azucar Bakery, is facing a complaint from a customer alleging she discriminated against his religious beliefs.
According to Silva, the man who visited last year wanted a Bible-shaped cake, which she agreed to make. Just as they were getting ready to complete the order, Silva said the man showed her a piece of paper with hateful words about gays that he wanted written on the cake. He also wanted the cake to have two men holding hands and an X on top of them, Silva said.
She said she would make the cake, but declined to write his suggested messages on the cake, telling him she would give him icing and a pastry bag so he could write the words himself. Silva said the customer didn’t want that.
“It’s just horrible. It doesn’t matter if, you know, if you’re Catholic, or Jewish, or Christian, if I’m gay or not gay or whatever,” said Silva, 40, adding that she has made cakes regularly for all religious occasions. “We should all be loving each other. I mean there’s no reason to discriminate.”
Discrimination complaints to Colorado’s Civil Rights Division, which is reviewing the matter, are confidential. Silva said she would honor the division’s policy and would not share the correspondence she has received from state officials on the case. KUSA-TV reported the complainant is Bill Jack of Castle Rock, a bedroom community south of Denver.
In a statement to the television station, Jack said he believes he “was discriminated against by the bakery based on my creed.”
“As a result, I filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Division. Out of respect for the process, I will wait for the director to release his findings before making further comments.”
Jack did not respond to emails from The Associated Press seeking comment. No one answered the door at the address listed for Jack in Castle Rock.
According to a local Fox affiliate, Jack is the cofounder of Worldview Academy, which is based in Texas but appears to hold camps all over the nation. On its website, the academy is described as a “nondenominational ministry committed to training students to think and live in accord with the Christian worldview.”
Jack can be seen online in various YouTube videos, in which he describes himself as “sick and tired of these evolutionists, humanists and atheists taking over the culture.”
The case comes as Republicans in Colorado’s Legislature talk about changing the state law requiring that businesses serve gays in the wake of a series of incidents where religious business owners rejected orders to celebrate gay weddings. Republican Sen. Kevin Lundberg said the new case shows a “clash of values” and argued Colorado’s public accommodation law is not working.
“The state shouldn’t come in and say to the individual businessman, ‘You must violate your religious — and I’ll say religious-slash-moral convictions. This baker (Silva), thought that was a violation of their moral convictions. The other baker, which we all know very well because of all the stories, clearly that was a violation of their religious convictions,” Lundberg said.
But gay rights advocates say there is a significant difference in the cases. Silva refused to put specific words on a cake while Jack Phillips, the baker who turned away the gay couple, refused to make any wedding cake for them in principle.
“There’s no law that says that a cake-maker has to write obscenities in the cake just because the customer wants it,” said Mark Silverstein, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Colorado.
Phillips’ attorneys had argued in court that requiring him to prepare a gay marriage cake would be akin to forcing a black baker to prepare a cake with a white supremacist message. But administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer disagreed, writing that business owners can refuse a specific message, but not service.
“In both cases, it is the explicit, unmistakable, offensive message that the bakers are asked to put on the cake that gives rise to the bakers’ free speech right to refuse,” administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said.
Phillips’ attorney, Nicolle Martin, said she has sympathy for Silva, arguing she is in the same category as her client. “I absolutely support her right to decline,” Martin said. “I support her right as an American to pick and choose the messages she will express.”
Silva said she remains shaken up by the incident. “I really think I should be the one putting the complaint against him, because he has a very discriminating message,” she said.

Bodies found floating in India’s Ganges
MORE than 100 decaying bodies have been found in a tributary of the Ganges river in northern India, officials say.
AUTHORITIES said they believed that the deceased were given water burials, although a police investigation has been ordered.
Water burials are sometimes used when families cannot afford a cremation.
Thirty bodies were recovered from the river in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh state on Tuesday.
By Wednesday, a total of 104 bodies had been found.
Senior district official Saryu Prasad said efforts were under way to DNA test the bodies and identify them.
“The waters in the river have receded, because of which the bodies may have surfaced,” Prasad said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party has vowed to clean up the notoriously polluted river, India’s most sacred waterway.
Green campaigners have been demanding an end to water burials in the Ganges.
Volunteers of the Ganga Bachao Andolan (Save Ganges Movement) on Wednesday began a sit-in protest against the dumping of the dead in the river, the IANS news agency reported

Police In Imo Defuse Bomb Close To The State’s INEC Office.
Men of the Imo state Police command this morning defused two bombs planted close to the Imo state INEC secretariat in Owerri the state capital. According to reports, the bombs were planted in front of the Owerri Capital Development Agency OCDA and were discovered after a loud noise emanated from that area at about 9.30am today. Policemen are said to have cordoned off the area.

Gov. Oshiomole kicks out Igbinedion Uni students from state medical facility
Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole today gave an executive order stopping the training of nursing students from the Igbinedion University at the state owned medical facilities, the Benin General Hospital and the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.
According to reports, the governor is angry at the school’s management for collecting money from their students and not providing the necessary medical facilities for their training.
The students had up until now enjoyed free training at the state owned medical hospitals despite paying huge sums of money to their school for their training. Gov Oshiomole had earlier terminated an agreement with the management of the school to train their medical students at the state’s specialist hospital over debts totaling N350million owed the state by the school.

Obasanjo Exposed The Truth About The Buhari PTF Fund Scandal
ABEOKUTA – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Tuesday, said the report of the probe panel he set up when he held sway as the country’s president did not indict the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen . Muhammadu Buhari of corruption during his tenure as the Petroleum Trust Fund boss.
Obasanjo however, said the probe panel discovered that, the Buhari-led PTF was inconsistent in its policies, saying other probe attempts on the activities of the former Head of state ‘was immaterial’.
The former President stated this while paying host to Buhari who visited him at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta before his campaign rally at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

Nigerian Choir Breaks Guinness World Record
The Akwa Ibom State choral group has broken the world record for the largest number of Christmas carol singers in the world. The record, which has been officially certified by the Guinness World Records and pasted on its website, http://www.guinessworldrecords.com, was broken by the unity choir, a 25,272 man-choral group, in a concert in the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday, December 13, 2014 with Guinness World Records representatives in attendance.
The new record beats the former one which recorded 15,674 carol singers, in December, 2013 by a group known as CENTI in Bogota, Columbia.

Shanghai new year crush kills 35

At least 35 people are dead, and 43 are injured during a New Year’s celebration on the Bund, a waterfront area in central Shanghai.
Sina News has reported that masses of crowds in Chen Yi Square on the Bund led to the stampede. The Shanghai government reported that the stampede started at 11:35 pm local time. Authorities are working now to rescue and aid wounded.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but the Eastday news portal in Shanghai interviewed an eyewitness to the stampede named Wu Tao, from neighboring Anhui province, who said that the stampede began when some people threw fake promotional money from the windows of luxury club called Bund No. 18 in Shanghai.
According to Shanghai Rescue authorities, many of those at the Bund were young students, as were many of the dead. One person who passed the emergency room at a hospital said that the nurses were busy aiding the injured.
The Shanghai Evening News also reported that the injured were rushed to the Shanghai First People’s Hospital. Other hospitals attending to the wounded include Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, and the Central Hospital of Huangpu District.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a statement tonight all efforts should be taken to treat the the injured, and that authorities should pay close attention to the aftermath and enhance the security measures to ensure people’s life and property safety during the holiday season.
Communist Party Secretary of Shanghai Han Zheng and mayor Yang Xiong also visited the injured. An emergency meeting was held to ensure stepped-up safety measures were taken throughout the city.
According to Eastday, Ruijin hospital treated 10 injured, most of whom have pulmonary contusion and bone fractures. Those patients are not in stable condition but some are dealing with psychological trauma from the incident.
The city’s annual New Year’s eve 3-D laser display on the Bund was cancelled this year, after taking place for the last three years, according to Shanghai Daily.
One week before the New Year, Shanghai authorities cancelled the event which attracted nearly 300,000 people last year, reportedly due to crowd control issues.
A toned down version of the celebration was held at several locations in the city instead.

Boko Haram Kill 15 In Borno Village Kautikari
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents shot dead at least 15 people in Kautikari located close to the troubled Chibok town, Borno State.
Reuters reports with reference to the witnesses that the attack was launched Monday, December 29, and targeted Kautikari, which is situated near Cameroon border.
A survivor identified as Jonah Umaru said in a telephone interview:
“The were about twenty, well-armed. They came in four-wheel drive vehicles and some motorcycles. Initially, I thought they were soldiers.
“The man running behind me was gunned down as I was fleeing. Afterwards, there were 15 people lying dead in the streets.”
More than 200 girls were abducted in Chibok April 14. Despite the global effort to locate and rescue them, the school children have not reunited with their families.
Moreover, earlier in December insurgents killed 32 and allegedly kidnapped 185 more women and children in Gumsuri, 20 km from Chibok.
One of the escaped locals, Mukhtar Buba, disclosed:
“After killing our youths, the insurgents have taken away our wives and daughters.”
Meanwhile Cameroon, also suffering from Boko Haram insurgency in the North of the country, just announced the killing of at least 41 militants along the border with Nigeria.
